A new collaboration which aims to reduce the city’s carbon footprint through food has been announced by Leeds City Council, the University of Leeds and FoodWise Leeds.

More public buildings are to get energy saving green upgrades after Leeds City Council secured £4.3 million of new government funding. 

Plans to extend Leeds’ award-winning district heating network by 2,500 metres will pass a major milestone as construction is set to begin within weeks. 

Due to the Met Office red weather warning that is in force today (Monday 18 July 2022) Leeds City Council has taken the decision that the planned consultation events for ‘Connecting West Leeds’ and ‘Transforming Travel between Leeds & Wakefield - A61’ will be rescheduled.

Plans include a reduction in speed limit, an accessible bridge, and safety measures to junctions located on the route.

Residents and businesses are being asked for views on proposals to invest up to £22.5 million in two key roads connecting Leeds and Wakefield – the A61 and the A639.

Leeds City Council has marked Clean Air Day 2022 by launching a new email alert service to help protect residents when high levels of pollution are forecast by the Met Office.

Leeds City Council has published its ‘Don’t Pave it, Save it’ guidance, which encourages residents to consider the environment and their impact on flood risk when renovating their front garden or driveway.
