People of Leeds call for city’s inspirational women to be etched in history

The names of trailblazing women who made historic contributions to Leeds will be officially put forward to be etched on the walls of Leeds Civic Hall, it was announced today.

The people of Leeds were asked to help decide which women from an initial list of six should become the first to have their names permanently added to the walls of the building’s prestigious council chamber.

Leeds City Museum’s spectacular Voices of Asia Gallery is hosting Muslims in the North, which was launched this week, and which explores the pioneering work of prominent Muslims in fields including commerce, healthcare, law and research.

Art lovers in Leeds have the chance to step inside a groundbreaking urban light and sound installation thanks to the latest VR technology.

A Light and Sound Transit by Berlin-based artist, sound sculptor and composer Hans Peter Kuhn had transformed Neville Street in Leeds city centre, where it was installed as a temporary public artwork.
