New details have been revealed about the part that Leeds communities will play in one of 2027’s most eagerly awaited sporting events – the Grand Départ of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Developers have started digging on a major new sports hub in Calverley, set to offer top class sports pitches and a completely new space for the community to meet.

Three new full-sized artificial third generation pitches and one new natural grass pitch will ensure that all local junior sports teams have equal access to quality facilities. 

A pilot event held at John Charles Centre for Sport last week saw 1,890 pieces of sport kit donated, to tackle inequality in sports.
