Football’s coming home to Millennium Square as city hosts World Cup 2026 semi-final fanzone

Fans will have the chance to cheer on England’s heroes on Millennium Square as they hunt for glory in this week’s World Cup semi-final.

Following the Three Lions’ victory against Norway on Saturday evening, Leeds City Council have announced that Millennium Square will host a World Cup 2026 fanzone at the heart of Leeds city centre for the epic last four clash with Argentina on Wednesday, July 15.

Supporters will have the chance to cheer on Thomas Tuchel and the team with all the big game action shown live on a high-definition giant LED screen with concert style sound, all set within a bespoke outdoor arena.

Entry is strictly by advance ticket only and is a standing only event. Gates open at 6pm with Kick-off scheduled for 8pm BST with live DJ pre match entertainment.

Two large, licensed bars and several street food catering concessions will be provided on site together with toilet and drinking water facilities.

Tickets are priced at £6 per person (inclusive of booking fees) an go on sale at 10am on Monday, July 13 via www.millsqleeds.com or by calling 0113 376 0318. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly and are limited to two per person. The event is open to ages 14 and above, and all persons under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

"The atmosphere on Millennium Square is always a one-of-a-kind and probably the closest you can get to being there.

“Leeds is a city that’s always had a massive passion for sport, and I know the fans will do England proud as we cheer them on in what will hopefully be another memorable win.”

Notes to editors:

  • The fanzone is 14+ Under 18s need to be accompanied by an adult
  • Strictly no alcohol, glass, cans, flares / smoke bombs, may be brought into the venue
  • CCTV will be in operation at the event with images recorded for the purpose of crime prevention and public safety. 
  • Event stewards will be entitled to search all spectators and/or their possessions on entry to venue.  Staff will not take any responsibility for prohibited items.
  • The organisers reserve the right to cancel transmission for any game and/or or refuse admission for whatever reason.
