Scott Hall gym getting fit for the future
Scott Hall Leisure Centre is back open after major improvements to the gym.
The gym has had a complete refurbishment with new flooring, lighting and decorations.
Leeds City Council has also invested in new state-of-the-art equipment for the facility, including the latest gym equipment for a full workout. Including a new functional including an interactive mini sled track.
It is hoped the refreshed and improved gym will attract a significant number of new members, which will in turn help to sustain the important health and wellbeing facilities by generating vital income for the council.
Since the reopening earlier this month, staff have already seen an increase in visits and new members signing up.
Many improvements to leisure centres have been made in the last few years, including recently refurbished gyms across sites including Rothwell, Wetherby, Armley and Morley Leisure Centres. Plans are now underway for improvements to be made to John Smeaton and Holt Park Active.
The recent refurbishments have resulted in membership numbers now being over 31,000, having only achieved 21,000 at most pre-pandemic.
The council’s investment in its leisure centres supports wider efforts to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to lead active and healthy lives, by providing more affordable memberships than many commercial equivalents. Active Leeds currently runs 16 leisure centres, 12 gyms and 14 pools.
Councillor Salma Arif, Leeds City Council’s executive member for adult social care, active lifestyles and culture, said: “We work hard to deliver top-quality sports and wellbeing facilities that give people in Leeds the means and motivation to keep active.
“This is a great project where we’ve done a complete overhaul of the gym and other parts of the centre and we’re hopeful that this will increase the usage of the centre.”
