Power loom

Power Looms: Undated. This photograph of power looms at the Crank Mills, Morley, taken by T. A. Stephenson, appeared in George Wood's book "The Story of Morley". The weaver is working at a plain loom and probably works two of them because she is standing on a board which gives access to the working side of each loom (the looms are reversed as regards each other). The cloth being produced is typical Morley Union cloth with a cotton warp and a shoddy weft. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive by T. A. Stephenson.
