Two parks in Guiseley given revamp by council

Refurbishment work at two popular parks in north west Leeds has been completed.

Undertaken by Leeds City Council’s parks and countryside team, Nunroyd Park and Springfield Park in Guiseley have both received a welcome revamp as part of two projects funded by contributions from local developers.

As part of the £60,000 scheme at Nunroyd Park, a new path network to improve accessibility around the green space for visitors has been created.

The children’s area at Springfield Park has also been given a new facelift and extension as part of a £64,000 project, which has included the fitting of new play equipment and a tarmac surface. Featuring in the new play equipment are two springers, a multi-play unit with slide, a special toadstool area perfect for imaginative play and reading, and a small train with carriages for role playing games.

Councillor Jack Dunn, Leeds City Council’s lead member for parks said:

“It is really great news that much needed refurbishment work has now been completed at both Nunroyd Park and Springfield Park in Guiseley.

“Both parks are a great place for all the family to relax and enjoy, and we are especially excited by the extension to the children’s play area at Springfield Park, which boasting a range of fantastic and fun new equipment, looks absolutely fantastic.”

In total, funding for the scheme at Nunroyd Park was £60,126, while at Springfield Park £64,700.
