Spring lambs take a gambol at Home Farm

Spring is well and truly on the way at Temple Newsam's Home Farm with the arrival of the season’s first newborn lambs.



Six adorable lambs were born earlier this week- a mix of Kerry Hill and Norfolk Horns.



And staff at the farm are now expecting a busy few weeks, with 70 more ewes expected to give birth meaning lots to see over the Easter holidays for visitors to the historic east Leeds attraction.



Councillor Mark Dobson, Leeds City Council’s executive member for cleaner, stronger and safer communities, said:



“It’s always an exciting time at Home Farm when newborns start arriving as well as being a traditional sign that spring is almost here.



“Baby animals are very popular with our visitors too and I know staff at the farm will be looking forward to introducing the new additions to everyone who comes along over Easter.”



As well as the lambs, the farm has also welcomed a litter of piglets, with another due in the next few days.



New calves are also being born every day.



A real working farm, Home Farm includes more than 400 sheep, cattle, pigs, poultry and goats.



Visitors can also enjoy traditional crafts and take part in demonstrations such as butter making and blacksmithing.



Home Farm is open 10am until 4pm (winter hours) Tuesday to Sunday inclusive. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing.
