Road resurfacing projects in city centre and Otley
Road resurfacing projects are to start in Leeds city centre and Otley in the coming days.
The work starts at Bondgate in Otley this weekend, with the first of two weekends where improvements to the road surface will be carried out from Charles Street to Kirkgate.
In order for the work to be carried out, the section will be closed to all traffic from 4pm to 11:30pm on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March, followed by a repeat on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March.
In Leeds city centre, work begins on Lower Briggate on Monday 16 March, which will see road closures in place every night from Boar Lane to Swinegate from 7pm to 5:30am ending on Friday morning.
The final work starts on Park Row on Tuesday 17 March, with roads being closed from The Headrow to Infirmary Street every night from 7pm to 5:30am ending on Saturday morning.
In all three locations, the work is being carried out at times chosen to minimise disruption in busy areas. Road closures will be in place with all vehicles, including buses and taxis, being diverted. Alternative bus routes will be signed at affected stops.
Leeds City Council executive member for transport and economy Councillor Richard Lewis said:
“This resurfacing work needs to be carried out so I would ask people for patience and understanding please while we get on and get it done. I’d like to thank the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and everyone involved in the planning for these works, as we look to get the improvements done as quickly as we can with the minimum disruption.”
