Reset. Restart: Live Music in 2021, where do we go from here?

A range of music industry luminaries will share their advice and experiences of how they have responded to the challenges faced by coronavirus, as part of an event set to be held this week.

 Like many other sectors, the creative and music industries has been extremely hard in the last year, and this will be explored further as the Business & Intellectual Property Centre Leeds collaborates with its Manchester equivalent in a special online, “cross-pennine” discussion on Wednesday (27/01/2021).

Hosted by Martyn Walsh from Manchester Indie band Inspiral Carpets, also featuring on the panel will be David Gedge, DJ NikNak, Mix-Stress, Jay Taylor and Lola Mitchell, which will be followed by Q&As.

The event forms part of the BIPC’s national Reset. Restart. programme whose purpose is to support SMEs (Small, Medium-sized Enterprise) impacted by the pandemic. BIPC Leeds is part of a national network of Centres, funded by the British Library, which provide free and low-cost access to databases, market research, journals, directories and reports, 1-1s, training and intellectual property support to aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups and more established SMEs in Leeds.

Leeds Libraries has received funding to develop and extend its existing regional service to support partner library services across West Yorkshire in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.

Councillor Debra Coupar, Leeds City Council's executive member for communities, said:

“These last 10 months have been hard on so many sectors, with many people having to put their jobs or business on hold. The creative and music sector that is based around many people coming together has been hit particularly hard. It’s important that as well as doing what we can to support those people now, we also look at how we can help them bounce back. That’s why I’m delighted that Leeds Libraries will be playing a major part in supporting the BIPC, especially on their Reset. Restart campaign, as well as helping develop the skills and confidence needed to start and grow successful businesses.

"I’m sure this Wednesday’s event will be the first of many collaborations between Leeds and Manchester BIPCs.”
