Recognising Small Groups and Charities in Leeds

Over 120 voluntary and community groups and charities have been recognised by the Lord Mayor of Leeds for the contribution they make to the city.

More than 200 individuals were welcomed to an event at Leeds Civic Hall where there were opportunities to find out about support and funding available for their groups from a range of stalls and information workshops run by colleagues from third sector support organisations, council area teams and commissioners.

Attendees were also given a certificate to recognise them for the great work that they do and the positive impact they make in the city.

Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Gerry Harper, said:

“I am delighted that we had a chance to recognise the contribution of so many individuals and organisations to the life of the city and the wellbeing of local citizens. There are a vast number of small groups and charities that help to make Leeds a great place and the work done in communities in the city by these people helps show our compassion, our energy and our strength in the face of adversity

“I was delighted to be able to meet volunteers and workers and present certificates to them to recognise the work that they do.”
