Postal voters in Leeds reminded to return votes in plenty of time

On the eve of polling day Leeds City Council is urging voters not to leave it too late to return their postal ballot forms.

Plenty have been arriving already in time for voting in the Thursday May 7 general, local and parish elections. However, since Leeds has the biggest postal vote in the country, with 100,890 registered to post their votes in the city’s elections, it helps if a steady flow comes through rather than them all being left to the last minute.

Susanna Benton, Leeds City Council’s electoral services manager, said:

“The team work very hard to make sure all the postal votes are organised as they come through, but there is generally a last-minute rush as polling day dawns. Make sure you get yours in in plenty of time before the polls close. And don’t forget if you’re voting in person polling stations are open from 7am, so you have plenty of time to get your vote in before the 10pm deadline.”
