Popular city German Christmas Market adds it support to Lord Mayor’s charity appeal

Representatives of the popular Leeds German Market have served up a festive treat for the Lord Mayor’s charity appeal.

Each year, the operators of the German Christmas Market make a donation to selected charities in the city, and this year have taken the decision to not only support the Leeds General Infirmary Children’s Heart Fund, but also the chosen charity of the Lord Mayor of Leeds Cllr Judith Chapman, Specialist Autism Services.

Present to hand over a cheque of £3,000 each to the Lord Mayor and chief executive Sharon Coyle of the Leeds General Infirmary Children’s Heart Fund on the steps of the Civic Hall was Aki Lowenthal from the Leeds German Christmas Market.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Judith Chapman said:

“I would like to offer the operators of the Leeds German Christmas Market a big thank you for their extremely generous contribution to my chosen charity this year, Specialist Autism Services.

“The Leeds German Market has become an extremely popular and much loved event, and it is fantastic that the operators are so keen to support charities here in Leeds as part of their stay.”

Sharon Coyle, Chief Executive of the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have the support of the German Christmas Market for a second time. It will make a huge difference for the families and children that undergo treatment at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit.”
