New online court booking system proving to be a smash hit with tennis lovers in Leeds

With Wimbledon now in full swing, tennis enthusiasts can now take to their computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones to make sure they do not miss out on the chance to emulate their heroes at Leeds City Council managed courts in parks across the city.

Players of all standards and ages can now take advantage of a new online booking system, which subject to demand, offers the opportunity to book a court at eight city parks throughout the day. Council city parks taking part in the initiative include; Roundhay Park, Springhead Park (Rothwell), Dartmouth Park (Morley), The Hollies, Holt Park, Meanwood Park, Manston Park and Chapel Allerton Park

Use of tennis courts in Leeds parks is always traditionally high in the summer months, and this new offer by the council with Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Go Hit It British Tennis, will help ensure lovers of the sport are not disappointed and left on the sidelines if they book early online.

To book a court, please register for free at www.leedsparktennis.co.uk and select which park you wish to play and at what time. To book a court on your mobile phone, you can also download either on Apple and Android devices, the ‘Clubspark Booker’.

Tennis lovers can also enjoy all of the action watching the big screen on Millennium Square in a special fans’ area dressed with deck chairs, picnic benches and artificial grass.

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for the environment and sustainability, said:

“It is fantastic that through this initiative in partnership with the LTA and Go Hit It British Tennis, we can offer tennis lovers in Leeds the chance to book one of our courts located in eight city parks by a simple click of a button on their computer, phone, tablet or lap top.

“In the summer months especially our courts do get very busy, and with this in mind we would ask people to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.”
