New fawns delight visitors at Lotherton Hall

A popular Leeds’ country estate is celebrating this month after welcoming a number of beautiful newborn fawns to its ranks.

The new arrivals are already more than happy to skip around with their parents and siblings close to the deer hide at historic Lotherton Hall, which continues to be the perfect location for people of all ages to enjoy. Viewing from the deer hide has become an even better experience for visitors following the introduction of a special trail walk in 2013 and enhancement work undertaken this spring by the volunteer team at Lotherton who have made a range of improvements including the introduction of a bird feeding station. The deer park walk is also set to provide winter food for the deer for the first time with staff taking advantage of the recent superb weather to harvest a crop of hay from this land.

Animal lovers will also enjoy a visit to the bird garden at Lotherton. The bird garden contains over 130 species of bird from around the world from Andean condors to snowy owls.

Once visitors have enjoyed the outside delights of Lotherton Hall, the inside of the house also has much to offer. This includes the ‘Age of Glamour - Fashions from the Fifties’ debut exhibition which is available to view in Lotherton’s brand new Fashion Galleries until December 31 2015.

“I would also like to offer a big thank you to our volunteering team at Lotherton Hall, who have done a tremendous job making the experience for visitors to the estate even better than before.”

Lotherton Hall Estate is a charming Edwardian house and country estate. A single entrance price allows access to the Bird Garden, home to almost 500 birds of 130 different species, many rare or endangered; the House, with its wonderful collections of fine and decorative arts and a dedicated fashion gallery, and extensive grounds with an abundance of activities to keep everyone busy.

Lotherton Hall has undergone numerous improvements over the last few years since becoming one whole visitor attraction. With this new and larger audience the whole site has adapted by introducing a new range of family-friendly facilities and activities. There are now two play areas, space to enjoy outdoor chess or croquet and new trails to help youngsters discover more about the house and grounds.
