Miss deadline and miss out on voting

Make sure you get your name on the electoral register by Monday April 20 to ensure you’re able to vote in the local and general elections on May 7.

This year it is particularly important to check you are eligible since a new, national system of individual electoral registration (IER) was introduced last year. This means that everyone in a household has to check their details, instead of the previous system of one person submitting a reply on behalf of all residents.

You can register online by clicking here www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You can also find the answers to questions about registration by visiting our register to vote web page. For general queries about the elections you can find further information on Leeds City Council’s main elections web page here: Leeds City Council elections information

Susanna Benton, electoral services manager, Leeds City Council, said:

“If you’re not sure if you’re registered please check as we won’t be able to accept any new applications once the April 20 deadline has expired. We want to make sure as many people as possible are able to vote in the May 7 elections.”

All the information you need should be available online or you can call the LCC elections helpline on 0113 222 4411 (open office hours Mon-Fri only), or email electors@leeds.gov.uk
