One of Leeds’ most popular ice-tastic attractions has opened its doors today on Millennium Square, and this year it is bigger and better!
People of all ages and abilities will once again have the chance to experience the fun and magic of outdoor skating and learn new skills at the Ice Cube, which is now open until Sunday 22 February 2015.
Joining the traditional ice rink for the first time will also be the amazing North Pole Starflyer, which will propel those brave enough to take a ride, 30m in the air through 360 degrees!
Other winter themes rides and attractions at the event available to enjoy will include the Capital FM Snowslide – a 40m dry slope snow-tubing slide, the Snowball Adventure – a giant inflatable obstacle course inside a giant snowball, and the Ice Dragon Coaster – a themed roller coaster ride for children together with a children’s Helter Skelter Ice Slide and a ‘Frozen’ train ride. Tasty treats and hot and cold snacks will also be available in the ‘Dolomites’ visitor café by Casa Mia.
Organised by Leeds City Council with support from media partners Capital FM and the Yorkshire Evening Post and now in its 15th year, tickets for all public skating sessions and the Snowslide are now available to book in advance either online at www.leeds.gov.uk/icecube or by calling the booking line on 0843 208 1841. Skating tickets are priced at £8 adults, £6 children (12yrs and under) with discounts available for LEEDSCard or BreezeCard holders.
For those interested in improving their skating skills, a limited number of weekend individual lessons priced at £15 are also available to book on a first come first served basis from the City Centre Box Office (0113 224 3801).

“The return of the Ice Cube to Millennium Square is always a sure-fire sign that the New Year is well and truly underway, and I am delighted to say our 2015 event has even more on offer to keep all the family entertained!
“As always there will be the opportunity to have great fun on the ice and brush up and learn new skills, while those people who like their rides a little scarier, can try out our fantastic North Pole Starflyer.
“With a range of other rides and attractions also available, and a selection of delicious hot and cold snacks, the Ice Cube really is a day out not to be missed.”

A special ‘first steps to skating’ tuition programme for Leeds school children is also being provided during term time for schools to book, along with a weekly dedicated accessible session every Thursday morning between 9am to 10am for wheelchair users and the disabled.
