Leeds invites everyone to walk the walk
Plans for the first Leeds Festival of Walking will see hundreds of walkers join Janet Street-Porter, TV celebrity and lifetime walking enthusiast at Roundhay Park on Sunday 31st May.After the formal opening at 11am, walkers will step out on a short celebratory walk through the park and the nearby Secret Gorge.
A week of walking follows the opening of the festival with over fifty walks ranging from two miles in length at a leisurely pace, to walks of more than ten miles. For those who are at work during the day there are several evening walks. All the walks are within the boundaries of Leeds.
Everyone is welcome to take part in the Festival. All the walks have a walks leader and they are all free of charge. They are all easily accessible by public transport services from Leeds city centre. The Festival is organised by the Ramblers' Association with the support of Leeds City Council.
