Money tips prove a hot topic

On the hottest day of the year so far, council staff hit the streets in Bramley and Stanningley to talk about money matters.

With the school holidays fast approaching, council staff and Leeds City Credit Union were keen to help people get to grips with their finances.

The 10-strong team spoke to tenants about everything from bills, budgeting and affordable bank accounts as they visited around 200 properties and delivered ‘money matters’ packs.

Packs included information on the money and budgeting service by Leeds City Credit Union from council housing offices, Trading Standards Stop Loan Sharks campaign, organisations available to provide help and support and the Money Buddies services provided at the Ebor Gardens Advice Centre.

Local residents were also able to enjoy a pay as you feel lunch provided by the Real Junk Food Project.
