Seasonal changes to waste services
At the end of October, Leeds City Council’s eight recycling centres will be switching to winter opening hours, marked by the clocks going back. From 27 October the centres will be open as usual from 08:00, but will close at the earlier time of 16:00, instead of 18:00.
The centres will remain open seven days a week, but will be closed on 25/26 December, as well as New Year’s Day.
In addition, at the end of November, garden waste collections (brown bins) will stop for the winter, with collections restarting in spring 2016. However, garden waste can still be taken to the recycling centres.
Investing in future of flats
Building work to refurbish flats at Clayton Grange and Clayton Court will begin w/c 26 October. The works will be managed by Mears and are expected to be completed by April 2016.
An event is being held on Tuesday 27 October, between 10.30 and 6.30 at the Claytons. The HUGO bus will be onsite so residents can drop in to speak to local officers about the works and view an artist’s impression of the work.
Work includes fitting extra lighting for added security and external wall insulation. Repairs will also be carried out to the concrete in the stairwells, rusting panels on the landings will be replaced and the blocks will have the walkways and staircases painted.
