Leeds City Council news in brief for 17/07/2015

Leeds residents are being asked to suggest names for the council's new extra care apartments in Yeadon.

The 45 apartments on Chapel Lane are being built with older people with higher care needs in mind. They are due to completed in 2016.

People can sumbit their suggestions to sheltered.services.team@leeds.gov.uk or @BetterLivesLDS or @HousingLeeds by 31 July 2015.

The chosen name will be announced in the autumn with the person who suggested the name winning a hamper and chance to attend the official opening ceremony in 2016.

Inner Ring Road contraflow in operation this weekend

The Leeds Inner Ring Road, A58(M) at Woodhouse Tunnel will be operating as a contraflow during the day this weekend as the project continues on maintenance and strengthening of the tunnel.

On both Saturday and Sunday between 8am and 7pm one lane will be open to traffic, operated as a contraflow system. The road will continue to be fully closed in both directions overnight, ending at 6am on Monday morning.
