Leeds City Council identified as ambitious in local goverment report
Video: Tom Riordan, chief executive of Leeds City Council gives his reaction to the findings in the LGA Peer Challenge report.
Bold, innovative and on the right track were the resounding themes coming out of the LGA Corporate Peer Challenge of Leeds City Council earlier this year.
In July 2016, the LGA Peer Challenge team spent four days in Leeds meeting with local councillors, staff and a range of partners as well as touring the city to assess the council’s progress towards the Best City/Best Council ambitions.
The team were impressed with the council’s ambitions and made nine recommendations to support the ongoing work to reach these. The recommendations included being bolder in communicating the council and city’s successes, revisiting locality working, investing in more innovative and radical change and reviewing the processes in place to support this.
