Leeds’ busiest shopping street transforms into play space for four days
A fun and interactive play installation has appeared on Briggate this week to transform the busiest shopping street in Leeds into a vibrant child friendly playground.
The interactive, fun family event brings together arts and crafts, outside play and physical activity right in the heart of the city centre. The installation features a climbing wall, arts and crafts with local artists as well as face painting.
Leader of Leeds City Council, Councillor Judith Blake said:
“It is fantastic to be able to bring an interactive and fun play space to our busiest shopping street in Leeds.
“We are keen to make the city centre much more child friendly, and have listened to feedback and ideas we have received via the Child Friendly Leeds competition earlier this year and are now starting to put some of these into place."
The space (situated outside Debenhams on Briggate) runs from 10am – 4pm Thursday 26 October through to Sunday 29 October 2017.
The play area builds on ideas brought to the council by young people across Leeds during the ‘Child Friendly Leeds in the city centre’ initiative and continues with the programme of pop up park and play spaces that have appeared across the city centre over the summer months.
