Leader of Leeds City Council comments on meeting with Liz Truss today

Flooding

Following a meeting with Secretary of State for DEFRA Liz Truss today, Councillor Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council said:

"I'm pleased that the Secretary of State Liz Truss came to Leeds today to see for herself what we've been saying about the urgent need for action following the Boxing Day floods. She has responded to the city's demands for a renewed feasibility study to agree the right protection for the affected areas across the River Aire's catchment.

"She also gave an assurance that this study will proceed quickly and move to a detailed plan of action by March. A fully funded scheme to protect Leeds must follow from this study as a matter of urgency to give Leeds' residents and businesses the protection they need and deserve".
