Key regional three-year public sector legal framework agreed

A key public sector regional arrangement has been set up in West Yorkshire and York to finalise new framework agreements with a range of law firms and other providers.

The West Yorkshire councils, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and City of York Council have come together to agree the joint framework, aimed at securing quality legal services at competitive prices across the next three years.

A full competitive procurement exercise was held for the contracts, which are potentially worth about £10m over their full life for all lots. They are in place to provide back-up support to in-house teams in specialist areas that are not covered or where there is a lack of resource.  In-house teams always confer to see if they can do work for each other before these contracts are used.

A spokesman on behalf of all the authorities involved in the agreement said:

“This is an exciting opportunity for the public and private sectors to work together in partnership in innovative ways, to make the most effective use of our resources and to make sure that authorities have access to quality services at the best prices and when they need them.”
