Journey through time at Temple Newsam this weekend

Take a stroll through the centuries this weekend as the historic Temple Newsam estate travels back in time through several periods of history.

Time travellers will have the chance to meet Saxon warriors, Tudor lords and ladies and Second World War civilians when Temple Newsam turns back the clock to host a special programme of activities across the weekend.

Experience living history and explore the stories behind the fascinating people who have called the site home through the ages. Youngsters can learn how to form a shield wall to fight off the fierce looking Waendelingas Warriors invading from Mercia, help medieval craftspeople make clay tiles, Tudor ladies make bread, and bake a thrifty war-time scone.

Historical dancers will be performing in the house’s stunning ballroom can visitors can also enjoy Elizabethan strolling musicians, a chance to meet a WW1 nurse and plenty of craft activities for the kids.

The event runs from 10.30am to 4.00pm on Saturday 7^th and Sunday 8^th July, with displays and “have-a-go” practical activities happening throughout the day up at the house and down on the farm. Family tickets are available for £24. Fancy dress is highly encouraged.
