Information for spectators ahead of exciting finale of Tour de Yorkshire in Leeds on Sunday

With the Tour de Yorkshire overall Stage 4 finale arriving in Leeds city centre this Sunday, the stage is set for what promises to be another wonderful and unforgettable event for those in attendance. Leeds City Council in partnership with West Yorkshire Police, race organisers (Welcome to Yorkshire) and the event security provider (Showsec), are looking forward to welcoming spectators to the city and would like to reassure the public that their enjoyment and safety is their number one priority. To ensure that everyone has a fantastic and safe time, a number of security measures will be deployed to keep you safe whilst attending the event.

  • Please be aware that security searches of clothing, bags and other items may be conducted, at our reasonable discretion, at any time during your visit

  • Please always follow any direction / instruction from our team of SIA registered stewards

  • CCTV is in operation across the city centre with images recorded for the purpose of crime prevention and public safety

  • Local Neighbourhood policing teams will be attending the event and please do not be alarmed if you see armed Police officers attending the event

  • Project Servator – a policing tactic used to deter, detect and disrupt a range of criminality, including terrorism – will also be deployed in this area

  • If you see anything suspicious during your visit, please contact a member of security staff or alternatively call 101. In an emergency always use 999

To ensure the safety of riders as they head to the finish, spectators are also politely reminded that hand waving flags, bang, bang sticks and foam fingers are strictly banned in the last 1000 metres of the race.
