Have your say on the future of Temple Newsam at drop-in events this weekend

Locals, visitors and those who run sports, activities and events at Temple Newsam are being encouraged to help to shape the future of the estate at drop-in public consultation events this weekend.

Leeds City Council have been looking at ways in which they can improve the management of the important historic elements of Temple Newsam and introduce new ways for people to access, learn about and appreciate the rich history of the house and estate.

The council have commissioned the consultants SouthernGreen to assist in carrying out a feasibility study on improvements to Temple Newsam, with the aim of seeking help from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend one of the drop-in events this weekend to share their thoughts on the future of Temple Newsam. There will be information boards on display showing the results of some of the research so far, the history of Temple Newsam and the many features that remain from its exciting past. The team will present information about potential projects to restore the heritage of the site and new facilities for visitors to improve the way in which they use it.

There will be members of the project team there to answer any questions and to hear the ideas of visitors. The team will be encouraging visitors to complete a questionnaire to ensure that they are able to consider all points of view and capture useful comments.

Following the consultation, the team will be working to form future plans fit to submit for funding.

The drop-in events are being held in Temple Newsam House, Leeds LS15 0AD on Friday 9^th November 13.30-15.00 and in the Stable Courtyard, Lady Hertford Suite, Temple Newsam Estate, Leeds LS15 0AD Saturday 10^th November 10.30-14.30.
