Good luck message to Leeds athletes competing at Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The Lord Mayor of Leeds has wished all athletes from or based in Leeds the best of luck as they prepare to compete in the Olympic Games in Paris.

Leeds athletes will be taking part in a range of sports in the Games, which start with the opening ceremony tonight (Friday 26 July) and conclude on Sunday 11 August.

Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung said:

“Good luck to all athletes from or based in Leeds as they take on the world’s best at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. We’ll be cheering on not just those representing Team GB but also other nations, reflecting the diverse make-up of Leeds as a city.

“The Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games which follow are the highlight of any sporting summer, and we know our athletes will do us proud showcasing their talents to the huge watching global audience. Best wishes to them all.”

Following the Olympics, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games take place from Wednesday 28 August to Sunday 8 September.

Action from both events will be shown on the big screen currently on the outdoor events area on City Square.
