Full Leeds Young Film Festival 2015 programme with Moomins on the Riviera and Song of the Sea

Leeds Young Film Festival 2015 (30 March - 10 April) is thrilled to reveal its full festival programme, which includes three extra special Gala screenings for all the family. A Special preview of Moomins on the Riviera (Thursday 9 April, 6.30pm), featuring everyone’s favourite Moomin characters in a brand new adventure, screens as our Family Gala at Hyde Park Picture House. We're giving you the first chance to take a look at The Film House in all its magical glory with a 30th Anniversary screening of Back to the Future (Thursday 2 April, 6.30pm) at Leeds Town Hall, and we'll have a real-life DeLorean car there just for the occasion. The spellbinding underwater animation Song of the Sea (Friday 10 April, 2.00pm) by Tomm Moore, director of Secret of Kells, is given a Special Preview as our Closing Gala at Hyde Park Picture House.



We're giving young people the chance to experience the best new and classic cinema from around the world at the greatest venues in Leeds. With support from British Film Institute and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Leeds Town Hall is being transformed into The Film House (www.thefilmhouseleeds.com) from 3-6 April, with live cinema, activities and events this Easter weekend. There will be a real life Batmobile (a film prop replica from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film) and Leeds International Film Festival presents evening screenings at Leeds Town Hall, which include Blade Runner: The Final Cut, a 50th Anniversary screening of The Sound of Music and Jim Henson's Labyrinth. Never will you have had such a brilliant opportunity to enjoy the favourite Pixar films than in our Pixar at Everyman selection, with Cars, Brave, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc all coming to the hugely popular Everyman Leeds cinema at the heart of the city.



Hyde Park Picture House is home to a truly remarkable selection of films for young people as we present a Family Film programme with Fiddlesticks, Ulysses and the 10,000 Moustaches, The Secret of Kells and Lola on the Pea. We have some very special guests visiting, as Director Lisa Mulcahy joins for a Q&A about her film The Legend of Longwood, an adventure about a 12-year-old who discovers she has a connection to the legend of the spectral Black Knight. LYFF 2015's fascinating documentaries include I Am Big Bird: The Carroll Spinney Story about the actor behind the great Sesame Street character; Nas: Time is Illmatic, which tells the story of the iconic rap album; and the stunning animation Children of the Holocaust, which re-tells the eternally important story of holocaust for a young audience, and for which we welcome Producer, Kath Shackleton.



Leeds Young Film’s year-round Not For Rental programme is dedicated to giving young viewers aged 15+ their first ever chance to see rarely seen classics on the big screen, and brings an exciting selection of new films to venues around Leeds. Its LYFF 2015 programme at Hyde Park Picture House includes Alfred Hitchcock’s masterful psychological thriller Strangers on a Train and Persepolis Director Marjane Satrapi’s deliciously dark new horror comedy The Voices, starring Ryan Reynolds.
