First fawn of 2016 arrives at Lotherton Hall

An historic Leeds county estate has welcomed a cute new arrival to its ranks this month.

After a nervous couple of weeks, the first fawn of 2016 has arrived safe and well at Lotherton Hall, which grounds are home to a fantastic deer park. The fawn is now taking the opportunity with mum to discover the delights of the estate, which boasts a large red deer herd.

Visitors have the chance to not only see close up the deer and other wildlife living in the surroundings of Lotherton Hall through a specially constructed hide, but also enjoy a range of other attractions. These include a pond and a marsh for frogs, toads and newts, a popular bird garden, orchard and stables. After a relaxing walk, visitors can also enjoy a well-deserved cup bite to eat and cup of tea in the café and pick up a gift in the shop.

“Waiting for the first fawn of the year to arrive in our deer park at Lotherton Hall is always a nervous and exciting experience for our team. It is great news therefore to hear that the new fawn arrived safely and has settled in so well into their new surroundings.

“With so much to see and do in the grounds of the estate and in the historic house, Lotherton Hall remains a great day out for all the family.”
