Festive waste and recycling collection arrangements announced for Leeds

The service is only closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and News Year Eve, with crews operating throughout the rest of the festive period including Sundays.

So no-one misses out on a collection, collection days will change from Christmas Eve (Sunday 24 December), with those scheduled for Christmas Day being made a day early.

Collections will then take place a day later than usual from Tuesday 26 December until Sunday 7 January, returning to normal from Monday 8 January.

Leeds’ eight household waste and recycling centres will only be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and will otherwise be open and operating as normal, including Sundays.

A leaflet setting out bin collection dates for Christmas and New Year will be dropping through letterboxes (or chimneys) from the start of next week.

The leaflet also includes a handy guide showing the many household items that can go into your green bin for recycling – including the extra cardboard packaging, metal drink cans and chocolate boxes that this time of the year brings.
