Feast of festive sights and sounds as German market returns
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Leeds with the return of the city’s hugely popular Christkindelmarkt German Christmas market.
Staying open right through until Saturday December 22, the seasonal showpiece has seen Millennium Square transformed into a scenic festive village with more than 40 traditionally decorated wooden chalet stalls selling seasonal gifts, toys decorations as well as authentic German food and drink.
The market also includes cosy indoor venues, family entertainment and the traditional Christmas carousel ride along with the special Santa’s Breakfast experience for children and families.
Set in the beautifully themed in Alp Chalet restaurant every Saturday and Sunday mornings from 24 November, Father Christmas will play host to a delicious authentic German breakfast buffet.
Guests will greeted and escorted to their tables by Santa's little helpers before Father Christmas pays a special visit to each table and presents a gift to the children. There will also be table arts and crafts with event partners Pop Up and Play to help keep the children entertained.
Tickets for the Santa’s breakfast is by advance booking only and are available to purchase now from the City Centre Box Office in Leeds Town Hall by telephone on 0113 376 0318 and online at www.leeds.gov.uk/christmasmarket
Councillor Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, said: “The German market has been part of Christmas in Leeds for 15 years now and it’s always wonderful to see it returning.
“Christmas in Leeds is always a special time and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone enjoying a memorable festive season all across the city.”
The German Market will be open daily from 10.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday, opening at 12pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The market closes at 7.30pm on Sundays.
