Family fun coming to parks in Leeds this summer
The iconic Breeze events will be touring Leeds this summer – as Breeze in the Park returns for 2022 with its popular inflatables, giant obstacle course, sporting and craft activities.
Taking place until Friday 2 September, Breeze will be hosting Breeze in the Park events at locations such as Harehills Park, Scott Hall Playing Fields and Cross Flatts Park.
The events, which are aimed at 0 to 19-year-olds, will run as two separate sessions on the days. With the first session taking place from 12pm to 2:30pm and the second session running from 3pm to 5pm.
Alongside the inflatable obstacle course, families can expect to find a range of entertainment for children and young people to enjoy, including multiple bouncy castles, arts and crafts, interactive play, and fun fair rides (which will be an additional cost).
Breeze in the Park’s performance zone will also see a variety of street entertainment at the events such as the Bread and Butter Theatre Company, who will be bringing their cast of eclectic characters, and Professor Pumpernickel, who will be wowing the crowds with his science shows.
Along with the regular sessions, a number of the events throughout the summer will also be hosting relaxed opening sessions for children and young people with additional needs. These sessions will run from 11am to 12pm at the following events:
Thursday 28 July – East Ardsley Recreation Ground
Friday 5 August – Cross Flatts Park, Beeston
Wednesday 10 August – Kirkstall Abbey
Thursday 18 August – West Park Leeds RUFC, Bramhope
Relaxed opening sessions will have additional staff, donkey feeding, petting, and riding opportunities and children’s entertainment. They will also have minimal queuing, reduced crowds, and designated parking for families.
If families would like to book a relaxed session, they are asked to email breeze@leeds.gov.uk with the following information: name of child with additional needs, age, details of additional needs and number of siblings attending.
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for economy, culture and education, said: “I’m delighted to see that Breeze in the Park is returning for 2022 and it’s great to see the full calendar of events set to take place across parks in Leeds during the summer holiday.
“In the recently revamped Child Friendly Leeds wishes, children asked for safe spaces to play, hang out and have fun in. And by bringing Breeze in the Park all across Leeds, we are working on our ambition to make Leeds the best city to grow up in. A huge thanks to the team at Breeze for their fantastic job planning the events.
“I encourage families across Leeds to attend a Breeze in the Park event wherever they can. With tickets just 50p per child, it’s wonderful value for money for what will be on offer to them.”
Tickets for Breeze in the Park are 50p per child and must be pre-booked in advance. Fast-track to the attractions is also available for those with a Breeze Pass. The Breeze Pass is not needed for general admission. To book tickets and find out dates and locations of future events, visit https://www.breezeleeds.org/breeze-in-the-park/
