Exciting 12-week skills and activities programme launched in Seacroft

Residents living in Seacroft are being offered the chance to take part in a variety of fun activities and learn new skills as part of an exciting 12 week programme launched this week.

Undertaken as part of Leeds City Council’s ‘Safe, Strong Communities ’ project, the aim of the programme is to provide residents initially in the Boggart Hill area of Seacroft with the confidence and knowledge to access opportunities that are available in their local community and across the city.

Activities on offer include; an over 60s lunch club every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, an open-to-all singing group every Thursday and a ‘Zest – Health for Life’ group for men on Mondays. There will also be Money Buddies events, where a team of volunteers and paid staff will work with you to help make the most of your money with budget advice and ensure you are getting the benefits you are entitled to as well as the best deals for gas, electric and more.

There will be weekly Seacroft Socials throughout the 12 weeks and great opportunities for young people to get involved with Radio Drama at the Chapel FM Arts Centre.

Leeds City Council are working with partners including LS14 Development Trust and Chapel FM Arts Centre to ensure the programme is a success.

Councillor Debra Coupar, Leeds City Council’s executive member for communities, said:

“There are some fantastic events planned in Seacroft over the next 12 weeks as part of our Safer, Stronger Communities programme and I would urge residents to get involved and have fun whilst learning new skills.

“This is a brilliant initiative and I am looking forward to seeing this type of programme rolled out in other communities across the city in the future.”
