Consultation on School Admission arrangements for 2019/2020
Leeds City Council is currently consulting on changes to arrangements for school admissions for 2019-2020.
In line with the School Admissions Code, admission authorities are required to consult on their admission policy whenever they would like to make a change.
There are no significant changes to the priorities being offered within the policy. One key point to note however, is that while the council already investigate fraudulent application of places based on home addresses listed, as a matter of cause, and withdraw places offered to pupils where applicable, this rule has been included into the policy to give clarity around this in a bid to reduce the number of fraudulent address applications.
In the main, the amendments proposed are minor wording changes for clarity and dates updated to be accurate.
Councillor Lisa Mulherin, executive member for children and families said:
“As part of our ambition to be a child friendly city, it is important to us that every family in Leeds gets the chance to have their say on proposals that the council are looking to implement in the future.”
