Closure to A64 slip road to allow for further work to the district heating work

As part of ongoing work to deliver the Leeds PIPES Network the A64 slip road crossing under the New York Road Tunnel will be closed this weekend.

From 20:00 on Friday 16th November to 05:00 on Monday 19th November 2018 there will be a full closure on the A64(M) Slip Road Crossing/New York Road Tunnel between Regent Street and Marsh Lane. The works include breaking up part of the road to allow for the installation of the district heating mains which is part of the project being carried out by Leeds City Council and Vital Energi to carry heat from the Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility (RERF) to provide hot water for heating in households and businesses in Leeds.

Full traffic management will be in place with a diversion and signage for road users to follow. This element of the work is being carried out over the weekend to minimise disruption as much as possible.

The Leeds PIPES scheme is a Leeds City Council-led project working with Vital Energi. The project has received investment from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) through the Leeds City Region Growth Deal – a £1 billion package of government investment to accelerate growth and create jobs across Leeds City Region.
