Chill at the Ice Cube this week!

The Ice Cube, returns to Millennium Square this Friday, giving visitors a chance to whizz around the ice under the specially covered outdoor rink.

The official launch of event will be marked with a special ‘dancing on ice’ performance at 5pm on Friday by Radio Aire Breakfast show presenters Caroline and Ant. Radio Aire as official media partners will also be providing the official soundtrack to this year’s event soundtrack to this year’s event courtesy of Ice Cube Radio with weekly special events, presenter appearances and on-air competitions.

The new penguin club on Sunday mornings provides a chance for younger children to take their first steps on to the ice in a fun and safe environment with the assistance of the popular penguin skating aids. There is also a dedicated accessible session every Thursday morning at 10am which is suitable for wheelchair users and for other disabled persons who may prefer a more quieter and relaxed environment.

In addition to the ice rink, the Ice Cube will also be hosting a wide range of winter themed family rides and attractions including the new Radio Aire Snowslide, the North Pole Starflyer and the adrenalin fuelled Ice Jet. There will also be a selection of other family rides for children of all ages including the Ice Dragon Coaster, Ice Palace 3D maze, Ice Bungees, Snow jump carousel and more. Tasty treats and hot and cold snacks will also be readily available for all visitors in the all new ‘Igloo Café’ by Catering Yorkshire.

It is the perfect opportunity for children and families of all ages and abilities to enjoy a brilliant attraction right in the heart of city centre. I am looking forward to welcoming the Ice Rink for the 18^th year along with the wider range of rides and attractions that are available for all.”

“We can’t wait for Friday to come around least of all to see my co-host Ant Arthur eat his own words after claiming dancing on ice was easy! After only 5 days of training, we will both (yes, somehow I have been set up by the bosses too) will take to the ice to perform a very special opening routine accompanied by our amazing coach and Champion Ice Skater Jennifer Barnfield. What could possibly go wrong?

Admission tickets for all public ice skating sessions are on sale now and are priced at (including booking fees) £8 adults, £6.50 children (12yrs and under) with discounts available for LEEDSCard or BreezeCard holders.
