Call-out for talented youngsters for Breeze auditions
A great opportunity for talented young people in Leeds is on offer at the public auditions for the 10th Breeze has Talent competition which will take place tomorrow.
Leeds City Council is on the look-out for talented youngsters to audition for Breeze has Talent 2017, in partnership with White Rose Centre. This year the hunt is on for young people aged 8 to 19 who are gifted musicians, singers, dancers, magicians, comedians… in fact anything which entertains the crowds.
Breeze Has Talent has provided talented young people of Leeds with a platform since 2008 and this year is teaming up with White Rose Centre to stage live auditions on Saturday 15 July between 11am and 4pm. Contenders should sign up online at www.breezeleeds.org.
The winner will perform in front of thousands of people at the Leeds Lights Switch on as well as receiving £300 towards their performing careers. The winner will also be offered many other opportunities to perform around the city throughout the year. Other finalists will also be switching on the Christmas lights in smaller events all over Leeds.
Past competitors have gone on to perform around the world, winning competitions and wowing audiences. Britain’s got Talent makes an annual call to the Breeze office when staging their auditions and last year’s winner of Breeze has Talent, Cole LC, made it on to Will.I.am’s team on ITV’s The Voice Kids earlier this month.
Councillor Lisa Mulherin, executive board member children and families said:
“There are so many talented young people in Leeds and we don’t want anyone to miss out on this fantastic opportunity.
“As a child friendly city we aim to support and nurture talent and do all we can to give all young people the opportunity to fulfil their potential and the confidence to reach their goals.”
Councillor Kim Groves, lead member for inclusive growth said:
“Breeze offers children and young people a unique opportunity to try out new things and explore their own potential. The Breeze has Talent competition has a fantastic track record of discovering some really gifted young people and giving them the platform to share their talents with a really wide audience. I would urge everyone who has ambitions to become a performer to give these auditions a try.”
Breeze has Talent is open to all young people living within the Leeds Metropolitan boundaries and aged between 8 and 19. This includes any young people who have taken part in previous Breeze has Talent competitions.
