Application deadline approaches for secondary school places in Leeds
Families are being advised to get their applications for secondary school places in now with the deadline less than two weeks away.
Parents and carers in Leeds have until Thursday 31 October to get their preferences in for those children starting secondary school in September 2020.
Families with children due to finish at primary school this academic year are encouraged to visit www.leeds.gov.uk/admissions and complete the easy and secure online application process.
For those who do not have access to online facilities, available options can be discussed with the admissions team by calling 0113 222 4414.
A range of information is available to help families submit their preferences. The schools themselves provide information on their admissions policy, transport and uniforms. Additionally, the council website provides details from previous allocation rounds, links to Ofsted reports and further details about admissions policies.
Families are advised to use all five of their preferences to give their child the best chance of being allocated a place at a preferred school. Parents and carers are reminded to use the address where the child lives for the majority of the time in their application.
For any advice and guidance on the process, the team is available on 0113 222 4414.
For those applying online, offers will be emailed on Monday 2 March 2020 during working hours.
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for learning, skills and employment, said:
“Choosing which schools to apply for is one of the most important decisions a family can make. It is therefore vitally important that families submit their school preferences before the deadline at the end of the month, and make use of all five of the preferences open to them.
“We are committed to working with parents and carers to support their child’s transition to secondary school. Our website and admissions team have all the information needed to help make this important decision and are very happy to answer questions and offer guidance on the process if families want to give them a call.”
