Lotherton’s fabulous food festival returns

A fabulous feast of food and drink will return to Lotherton later this month as the estate prepares to host its second annual food festival.

Following on from last year’s successful event, this year’s festival takes place from April 29 until May 1 and will see some of the city’s favourite street food traders set up in the grounds of the picturesque Aberford attraction.

Local producers and stallholders will also be attending, this year setting up in a large marquee on the main event field.

The festival, which runs from Saturday to Bank Holiday Monday, will also feature an exciting programme of events and entertainment including live music on stage, free children's activities, children's cookery classes, archery, a fun fair and bouncy castles.

The main festival bar will be serving locally brewed beers from Rudgate Brewery alongside speciality bars on site serving Pimms, Prosecco and cocktails.

And more adventurous visitors can also take on a daily Man vs Food challenge and put their appetites to the ultimate test.

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for the environment and sustainability said: “Last year’s event was a big success and it’s great to see the food festival returning for what I’m sure will be another memorable weekend in the beautiful surroundings of Lotherton.

“Leeds has a fantastic reputation as a city where people can enjoy the best food and drink and it’s wonderful to get some of our favourite traders and producers together in one place for such a unique celebration.”

Entrance will be the same as the usual estate charge of £6.00 for adults and £3.00 for children. Tickets for Lotherton can now be booked in advance online. Tickets covering all three days are available for £8.50 for adults and £4.50 for children.

Additional charges apply for food, drink, funfair and cookery classes.
