February fun for this half term

It may seem like kids have only just gone back to school but believe it or not, it's almost February half term. But fear not, there’s plenty going on in Leeds to help keep your little ones busy.

Abbey House Museum celebrates Leeds Year of Reading

During February half term, the popular Kirkstall museum will celebrate Leeds Year of Reading with crafts and activities inspired by family favourites including Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island and the works of Roald Dahl.

Ice Cube on Millennium Square

The city’s coolest attraction returns to Millennium Square in the New Year to celebrate its 20th year. Ice Cube will give visitors of all ages a chance to whizz around the ice under specially covered outdoor rink complete with a transparent marquee style roof.

Leeds Industrial Museum’s mystery matinees

Every day at 2pm throughout the holidays, visitors can watch a classic film in one of the UK’s smallest cinemas. Grab a ticket to the Art Deco Palace Picture House for just £9 which includes entry into the museum and the Leeds to Innovation exhibition.

Love Birds at Lotherton

Visitors can find out more about feathered friends, including the estate’s colony of adorable Humboldt penguins, fed each day at 11am and 3pm daily. Take part in feathery crafts and follow the Love Birds trail to learn more about exotic birds.

Peppa Pig: My First Concert at Leeds Town Hall

The town hall will be hosting a fun, interactive introduction to a live orchestra with TV’s most famous pig and her family.

February fun at Temple Newsam

The stunning Leeds landmark will have special sessions where guests can design, decorate and take home their own treasure or trinket box and follow the trail through the house and discover weird and wonderful treasures from the past.

Clever Clothes and Fabulous Fashions at Leeds City Museum

Youngsters can reuse and recycle craft materials and design fashions for their favourite toy and parade them down the table catwalk. There’s also a textile trail around the museum to discover how clothes have been used, recycled and made in Leeds.

Minibeasts and Crawly Critters at Leeds Discovery Centre

On Feb 19 from 10am until 12pm, explore the centre’s huge collection of insects and creepy crawlies and take on some critter themed crafts before heading off on a tour of the amazing store.
