Yorkshire chef Brian Turner CBE will be returning to Kirkgate Market this weekend to make some of his favourite recipes.

As part of the Leeds Loves Food festival Brian will be based at a specially customised unit in the market on Saturday 8 June from 10am to 1pm and as well as preparing his own dishes will be on hand to give advice and hand out recipe cards.

Alongside the famous chef, traders from Hayes Seafood and My South African Butcher will be doing demonstrations and showing people how to prepare their own specialities.

Leeds Food Festival, which, due to its popularity has been extended with events over a two week period, is culminating in the famous Food and Drink Festival on Millennium Square between 7th and 9th June. There will also be an event on Victoria Gardens – Handmade in Yorkshire which will be showcasing local food and produce of the region.

Leeds City Council markets champion Cllr Gerry Harper said;

“Brian is a longstanding friend and champion of the market and its traders, and we are delighted to welcome him back as part of the food festival, which this year is already proving bigger and better than ever.”

Brian Turner is an ambassador for Yorkshire Bank as part of their initiative to support local businesses in the region and this is another reason for his visit to the market this weekend.

Yorkshire Bank’s marketing manager John Foster said:

“Yorkshire Bank is delighted to provide its ambassador Brian Turner CBE for this event. We are proud to support Leeds Markets; its famous heritage, contribution to local business and the consumers who shop there."
