Road closures to be in place for maintenance work on two Leeds bridges

Connecting Leeds Highways

Work to carry out essential maintenance on two bridges in Leeds is to be carried out from this weekend.

The Henconner Lane Bridge in Bramley and the Valley Farm Bridge in Rothwell will both have work undertaken to replace expansion joints.

The work at Henconner Lane will take place from 7am to 6pm each day on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June. On Saturday a full closure of the southbound carriageway will be in place during these hours where Henconner Lane crosses the Stanningley Bypass.

The following day the northbound carriageway will be closed. On both days a signed diversion route will be in place, with access to local businesses maintainted throughout.

The works are expected to be completed by 6pm each day, but the closure order can remain in place to allow the contractor to work later should it be needed.

The work at Valley Farm Bridge will take place from June 26-28, carried out on three consecutive nights where the A1 Wakefield Road crosses the A639 between 8pm and 5am. To allow the work to be undertaken, the A61 will be closed during these hours with a signed diversion in place. This will only impact southbound traffic, northbound A61 traffic will be unaffected.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority/Metro, taxi companies and key stakeholders have been made aware of this work taking place. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption while it is being carried out.
