The ever-popular Ice Cube returns to Millennium Square in Leeds this week, offering a limited number of ice skating lessons at the outdoor ice rink to those people who see themselves worthy of appearing on ‘Dancing On Ice’ or just looking for a chance to get active and healthy in the New Year.
Open from Friday 24 January 2014, enthusiasts of all levels and ages from beginners to more advanced skaters will have to chance to improve and learn new skills as part of a four-week National Ice Skating Association (NISA) tuition programme held on a Saturday and Sunday morning by Skate UK qualified skating professionals, which are priced at £58 per person.
A number of individual lessons during public skating sessions on a Saturday and Sunday morning are also available to book in advance. All skating lessons must be booked in advance by calling the city centre Box office on 0113 224 3801 which is open Monday - Saturday between 10am and 6pm.
Organised by Leeds City Council with support from media partners Capital FM and the Yorkshire Evening Post and now in its 14th year, the Ice Cube has been expanded in recent years to include a family-focused outdoor rink with adjoining nursery rink for younger children together with additional rides and attractions.
Available to enjoy will include the Capital FM Snowslide – a 40m dry slope snow-tubing slide, the Snowball Adventure – a giant inflatable obstacle course inside a giant snowball, and the Ice Dragon Coaster – a themed roller coaster ride for children. Tasty treats and hot and cold snacks will also be available for all visitors in the winter-themed Dolomites Café by Casa Mia.
The ice rink and all of its attractions will be open daily from 12 noon to 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 8.30pm Saturdays, Sundays and School Holidays (closes at 7pm on Sundays).
