New Partnership for Foster 4 Leeds

Leeds City Council’s fostering team Foster 4 Leeds have developed a new partnership with Christian fostering awareness charity Home for Good, to increase interest from people of faith in Leeds to consider fostering with their not-for-profit local authority.

Home for Good’s intention is to enable the Local Authority to increase its capacity to provide homes for looked after children. In 2011, several Christian leaders, foster carers themselves recognised the shortage of foster carers in the UK and started charity Home For Good to raise the profile of fostering within the UK Church.

Councillor Fiona Venner, Leeds City Council’s Executive Member for Children and Families, said:

“A safe, secure and loving home is one of the best gifts that can be given to any child - it is no different for children in our care. We now have 1,300 looked after children in Leeds and are always on the lookout for more foster carers to open up their hearts and homes to some of our most vulnerable young people.

“We have a bold ambition to make Leeds the best city for children and young people to grow up in and continue to work with our valued partners, such as Home for Good, to drive that ambition forward. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding role where you can really make a positive difference to a young person’s life. I continue to be inspired by the dedication of our current foster carers and would urge anybody who is interested in finding out more to get in touch.”

Following the launch of the Faith in Fostering 2 year initiative in June, the second faith in fostering event is to be held on 23 November between 1-3pm. If you’re interested in attending register for your free ticket here: http://bit.ly/FaithinFostering
