Lord Mayor to attend ceremony tomorrow to remember victims of Nepal earthquake

The Lord Mayor of Leeds Cllr David Congreve will be joining members of the city’s Nepalese community tomorrow (Friday 8 May) on Millennium Square at 9pm to remember the victims of the recent Nepalese earthquake.

This will be marked by a candle lighting ceremony and followed by a two minute silence. The event is being organised by Laxmi Bantawa MBE Chairman of the Leeds Nepalese Community and all are welcome to attend.

This ceremony will take place prior to the VE Day Beacon lighting ceremony at 9.32pm.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds Cllr David Congreve said:

“I feel extremely humbled to be given the opportunity on behalf of our city to join members of the Nepalese Leeds community on Millennium Square this Friday as we remember the victims of the recent terrible earthquake in Nepal.”
