Lord Mayor congratulates Rhinos ahead of Headingley homecoming


The Lord Mayor of Leeds has congratulated the Leeds Rhinos on their Challenge Cup victory ahead of a special homecoming event later today (Monday).



Following Saturday’s win at Wembley, Councillor David Congreve, Lord Mayor of Leeds said:



“The Rhinos really did us proud and it’s fantastic that they will finally be bringing the Challenge Cup back to Leeds.



“On behalf of the city, I’d like to offer them my congratulations and thanks for giving us yet another memorable highlight in what really has been a landmark year for sport in Leeds.”



Today’s free homecoming event will take place at Headingley Carnegie Stadium and gates will open at 11.45am.



Entertainment will be provided by local band The Gonzos plus the Spencer Properties Dance Team along with club mascot Ronnie the Rhino.



The event will finish at around 1.30pm with free car parking available on site.
