Leeds Kirkgate Market expands street food offer
With over 30 street food and café options to choose from there is even more being added to the menu at Leeds Kirkgate Market.
Fast becoming a destination for street food lovers and a place for traditional food, Leeds Kirkgate Market is upping its food offer with foods from Mexico and Colombia.
Opening just last week with a flurry of excitement over free burritos was Casa Mexica, bringing authentic Mexican Street Food.
With fillings to cater for all, they offer a huge range of halal, vegan and vegetarian options. Casa Mexica are already established in Manchester and this will be their first opening in Leeds. Current best sellers on their Manchester menu include Chicken Tinga and Tofu Fajita. Visitors can find Casa Mexica in Unit O, in the 1904 Hall by the Vicar Lane entrance to the market.
Next is Kanassa Kitchen who opened their shutters the day after. The brain child of Leeds sisters Anna and Beth, Kanassa Kitchen has been born out of a love of Colombian Street Food inspired by Anna’s travels across Colombia in 2016/17.
Kanassa (‘God of Fire’) will be bringing wholesome Colombian-inspired street food with its own special twist. Everything is made from scratch using high quality ingredients. Predominately vegan, they will be serving up South American inspired food like their Guava Ceviche on fresh sourdough toast, sweet potato and coconut curry and their much-loved big Colombia brunch.
Also opening very shortly will be the famous George Street fishery, Fisherman’s Wifew ho will be making the move inside to join the Market Kitchen in September where they’ll be serving everyone’s favourite city centre fish and chips. The Market Kitchen will also be the new home of Cargo Crepes. They will be serving up authentic sweet crepes, a hearty galette and vegan and gluten free fluffy pancakes.

Our market is a hub for food lovers, from the wide variety of fresh ingredients to the expanse of exciting street food and the new traders will increase the choice people have when visiting our Market Kitchen.”
