Join in with the apple harvest at Lotherton Hall this weekend

Museums and galleries

Visitors to Lotherton Hall can join in with all the fun of the autumn apple harvest this weekend.

On Sunday, September 13, activities and games at the Edwardian house and grounds will include cider and apple juice tasting, harvest treats in Lotherton’s café, an ‘apple and spoon race’ and garden games, all to celebrate the start of this year’s apple harvest.

Music on the day will also be provided by Notability and youngsters can take part in making fruit and veg sculptures in the Stable Courtyard and mini scarecrow making in the hall.

Apple picking will be available in the estate’s much-loved orchard and visitors can even learn about harvest mice in the living display at the bird garden education room.

The estate grounds will also be open, with the chance to walk down a path into the heart of a deer park, or to a pond and marsh, full of frogs, toads and newts.

Councillor Brian Selby, Leeds City Council’s lead member for museums and galleries, said:

"This is a great chance for families to come along and be part of one of Lotherton Hall’s many long-standing traditions.

“The orchard has more than 100 different varieties of apple and joining in with the harvest will be great fun and a real experience.”

Taking part in the harvest is included with entry into Lotherton Hall. Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and £4 concessions.
